My son is getting older, and with that comes the funny and sweet things he says and does! I've been told to "write them down" by older women around me so...here they are! I'm "writing them down!" Check back often for updates!
- Thursday, September 30th, 2010: Tonight I had put Rusty to bed. He seemed to be totally asleep and I was out in the living room working on some powerpoints. All of the sudden he was yelling, "MOMMY! MOMMY! It's time to go to the mall!" I had talked about going to the mall earlier...I guess he really wanted to go!
- Thursday, September 30th, 2010: I had just put Rusty into the bath. He suddenly started peeing. He looked at it and said, "Mommy, I will pee in the potty...soon." Uh, too late buddy, too late.
- Friday, October 1st, 2010: Tonight we had to take Rusty with us to Kev's work for University of Oregon. He had to go to the school and register students-just a local middle school nearby. The process was taking place in the library and Rusty was having so much fun running through the stacks of books. I said, "Rusty! It's time for us to go, ok? Are you ready to go and eat?" He said, "I guess NOT Mommy! I guess not!" Where does he come up with these things??
- Monday, October 4th, 2010: Yesterday I asked Rusty a question. It was about something Kevin had done for him. I said something like, "Who did that for you?" His response? "THAT GUY! That guy right there!" as he pointed at his Daddy. It was hilarious!
- Wednesday, October 6th, 2010: Tonight at dinner we were talking about work. Kevin turned to Rusty and said, "Rusty, what does Mommy do for work?" Rusty looked at me and replied, "Builds big sand castles!" Yep, that's right ladies and gentlemen, I am a professional sand castle builder!
- Tuesday, October 12th, 2010: Today at the mall I got Rusty a Halloween bucket. He then took it and spent the next 30 minutes running between Kev and I saying "Tick or Treat!" Then when we would put a random item, like a soother, in the bucket he would run to the other person and say, "Look at my tweat!"
- Wednesday, October 13th, 2010: He had just finished a plate of peanut butter crackers. I was holding the plate in my hands in the kitchen while he took a drink and he looked up at me and said, "Just tow it like this Mommy, in da sink!" Then he whipped his hands towards the sink like he was throwing a frisbee! Where does he learn these things??
- Thursday, October 21st, 2010: Tonight we were debating names for the baby. We turned to Rusty and said, "Rusty, what do YOU think we should name the baby?" He smiled and replied, "Honey Bun!"
- Sunday, October 24th, 2010: Tonight we were driving in the car and Kevin turned to Rusty and said, "Rusty, what is Mommy's real name?" and Rusty replied, "Stacy." Then I said, "Rusty, what is DADDY'S real name?" He smiled, and said, "Honey!" I guess he hears me say that a lot! Honey it is!
- Monday, November 8th, 2010: We took Rusty to my prenatal appointment. My doctor is also our family doctor, and wanted to do a physical on him. He was great and did really well. We got out to the car and he said, "That was fun!" I replied, "What was fun?" He said, "The DOCTOR! That was FUN!" Silly boy!
- This past week: November 2010: He has noticed me saying that the baby is kicking me and has started to say the same. Today he said, "My baby is kicking me!"
- December 22nd, 2010: The Canucks game came on TV tonight. They flashed a picture of the goalie and our little 2 1/2 year-old Rusty shouted out, "It's Luongo! It's Luongo!" We didn't even know he knew who the goalie was! What a smart kid!
- December, many times: Overheard while Rusty is playing goalie, "I'm Luongo! I'm Luongo!" He knows the goalie for the Canucks!
- December 29th, 2010: We were awoken by a little man pattering into our room, once his alarm clock turned green. He then ran to the living room and we heard his little voice cry out, "IT'S SNOWING! Mommy it's snowing!" Pitter patter pitter patter into our room, "Mommy! Come and see! It's snowing!" It was just one of those classic, amazing moments.
- February 13th, 2011: His little brother was crying and he went up to him, started rubbing his back, and said, "It's okay Sweetie, it's okay!"
- February 22nd, 2011: Tonight Kevin was pretending to be a robot. He said, "Here comes RoboDad" in a monotone voice. Suddenly Rusty was moving his arms like a robot and said, "It is RoboRusty." It was SOO hilarious! We made him do it again and again!
- February, March: The last few months Rusty has shown incredible capabilities with his memory! He can recite entire books that we have read to him often and he can sing SO many songs! One of my favorites, though, is one that he messes up a little bit. It is a song from Dora and it goes, "I speak Spanish, and English too, I like them both, how about you?" but RUSTY says, "Ingo Spanish, Inglo too, I like to eat, how about you?" It is sooo cute when he sings it!
- March 8th, 2011: Yesterday Rocky was crying in his bouncy seat. Rusty ran up to him and said, "It's ok Bubba, it's ok!" Hilarious! He is such a little copycat!
- March 22nd, 2011: We took Rusty for his first visit to the dentist. He did AWESOME and especially liked our dentist, Dr. Ryan. The next morning when he got up he said, "Mommy, mommy! I have to brush my teeth and make them shiny!" I said, "Yes, that's right! Why do you have to brush your teeth?" His response: "Because THAT GUY said to!"
- RANDOMS: I just want to put down the funny things he says in place of a few other words:
- Tim Horton's-Com Portons, He will be riding in the car and say, "Look Mommy! There is a Com Portons!" I bought him an apple juice there the other day and he looked at the bottle and said, "Mommy! It says Com Portons on it!"
- Elevator-He calls elevators Alligators. It is the cutest darn thing...every time he says it I can't help but smile. I love it! "Mommy, can we ride the alligator?" "Yes honey! We can!
- May 20th, 2011: Rusty was taking his bath last night. He has seen me pump breastmilk for Rocky, and he was putting his bath cup over his chest. I said, "What are you doing?" He replied, "I'm getting milk for Rocky. Mine is chocolate, he likes chocolate milk!"
- September 8th, 2011: Rusty has been saying this for awhile, but I finally remembered to put it on here today. He calls ice "crack." I burst into laughter the first time he said, "Momma, can I have some crack in my water?"
- September: Rusty is quite the parrot these days. He repeats every single thing he hears. He often can be heard repeating a phrase his Nana says, "Oh my goodness me!" or "Oh my goodness gracious!" He also says, "I don't know about THAT!" So cute!
- September 20th, 2011: I was just holding Rusty and hugging him and I said, "You are cute AND sweet! How did you get so lucky?" and he replied, "Because God made me COZY!"
