About Me

What to do for an about me page?  I don't really love to talk about myself, so maybe listing it is the way to go.
  • My name is Stacy.  I live in Canada.  I'm an American...thus, An American Girl in Canada.  This was chosen basically for lack of a better title, but now I love it.  You can read the VERY FIRST POST I ever wrote HERE!  Who knew blogging would become such a huge part of my life!
  • I love Jesus.  He's my true and number one reason for living, but he has also blessed me with many other reasons.  I can't really give you a specific post to go to about God, because He is sprinkled throughout my entire blog, just like my life.  You will see evidence of Him everywhere!
  • I hail from the wonderful state of South Dakota-land of Mount Rushmore, happy and friendly people, and farms.  I'm a farm girl, born and bred, and I loved that way of life growing up.  Most of my family still loves there, and going back to visit is always a highlight of our year.  My husband has grown to love it so much that we even considered moving there for a bit!  You can read a little bit more about my awesome family HERE.
  • How did I end up in Canada?  This is a common question.  Yes, I followed a man!  I met my husband when we were both on a missions trip to China in 2001.  It is a wonderful, made for the movies story, and I love to tell it.  You can read it HERE!
  • I am a woman madly in love with her husband.  This LIST is a bit out of date, but man do I love this guy.  He is an amazing husband and a wonderful father.  I'm so thankful for the life we are building together.
  • I am Mommy to two wonderful little boys and a special gift of a daughter. The first was born in 2008 and goes by the name of Rusty on my blog.  He has revolutionized my world.  It took a lot for us to have him, so to me he seems extra special!  You can see his birth story HERE, and you can see our announcement to the world HERE.  Our second was born in 2011, and has added crazy joy to our lives.  He goes by the name of Rocky.  Check HERE for his birth story! He also had a rough journey his first week of his life, but proved to be the fighter, living up to his nickname.  Read about that, and our introduction of him to the world, HERE!  Our little girl was born in 2014 and is a Hurricane.  You can read her birth story HERE
  • Our journey to parenthood hasn't been easy.  It hasn't been as hard as it has for some people, but it also hasn't been easy.  We have been through multiple miscarriages, but God has used them for good.  You can read those stories HERE, HERE, and HERE
  • I truly love a good latte.  Sometimes I feel bad that I love Starbucks so much, but I really can't help it!  It IS a special treat and not an every day occurrence, but man is that stuff good!  You can see a bit more about my coffee addiction HERE.  The interesting thing is that every time I have been pregnant it has been really easy to give up.  One of those hormonal things, I guess!
  • Before mommyhood took over my life I was a full time teacher and I loved it!  I have recently returned to that world.  This year I have the absolute BLESSING of teaching part-time!  I get to do the job that I adore, yet I also get to be home with my kids!  Although the balance isn't always easy I find that teaching, being a wife, and being a mom all at the same time are truly rewarding.  It's filling a little part of me that I had missed just a bit.  I have a feeling teaching will always be a part of my life.
  • I am incredibly blessed to be surrounded by wonderful, amazing friends that will do anything for me.  They are my family up here.  Their kids are my son's cousins, they are his Aunties and Uncles.  (They do not, however, replace the real cousins and Aunties and Uncles, whom my son adores as well!)  I have any number of great girlfriends I could call up at any given moment and talk through a problem with.  They rock...truly.
Most of the time, I find my life to be filled to overflowing.  It's not that I don't go through rough moments, or have a dirty house, or some mornings simply want to SLEEP, but hey, I really can't complain.  I have my God, my husband, my son and baby and family and friends and that's just about all that one needs to find comfort and joy in the world...and a really good cup of coffee!
