Brrr...It's wonderful!

In just a week I will be home with my family! ONE WEEK! I am getting so excited. I can't wait for Rusty to meet my side of the family. Just the other day I was looking at some pictures and found one of my dad. He was probably about 2 or 3 years old in it and I was struck by how much it looked like Rusty! The little grin, the clasping hands...so adorable! If I had a scanner, I would scan it in so you could see. I can't wait for little Rusty to meet his grandpa. I know my dad has really been looking forward to it, and I'm sure that my mom won't even recognize the little boy from the tiny, days old baby that she left in September. My family is going to have so much fun. That, however, is not the point of this point. The point is...the weather!

We are currently in the midst of a deep freeze by B.C. standards. The weather is cold! Cold enough that lakes are freezing over, icicles are forming in some places, and my dear husband says every morning, "It's COLD out there!" Yesterday morning he came in from warming up his car going, "Brrrr!!! It's so cold outside!" When I went out later in the day I was layered up, fully expecting to feel like I was freezing. I realized, however, that I do still have a little bit of South Dakota left in me, for I felt that the weather was just right!

It's chilly, but it's WONDERFUL! It is BRIGHT and SUNNY every day! There is that cool, crispness in the air...just cold enough to keep you awake, but not so cold you can feel your nose hairs freeze-that will come in a week, right guys? This is winter as I know it...winter as I grew up. Bright sunny days, the need for a scarf and toque, little kids bundled up in snowsuits. I am loving it, and hoping that this kind of winter is here to stay. None of those gray, dreary days full of rain.

I do hope, however, that it warms up a bit at home before we get there. They are currently having temperatures down to -40 fahrenheit. BRRR! That's a bit TOO cold...you definitely feel your nose hairs freeze in that kind of weather. I guess we'll have to wait and see!
