A Special Day

Today was a very special day. Today was Rusty's Baby Dedication at church. It's not a baptism, but rather just our public statement that we believe that Rusty is a precious gift from God, and that we will do our very best to raise him to know and love God. It is our daily prayer that Rusty has a relationship with God, and today was such a special day. As we stood in front of our church and our friends and family, tears came to my eyes. It was a day that I didn't know if I would be blessed to have, and to say I am incredibly thankful just doesn't quite express my feelings.

We were doubly blessed when we found out that our associate pastor, who also married us, was going to be the one doing the baby dedication. We feel very close to him. He's a great man of God, and has walked beside us in this journey, praying for us and showing his joy and excitement when little Rusty was born. He kept watch on me each week as I came to church to see if he had arrived yet or not.

One of the best parts was all of the friends and family that showed up to be a part of the special day! Some of them we didn't even know had been there until later, but it blessed our hearts just the same. Rusty is truly a very blessed boy. He has so many great people in his life that love him and pray for him daily. What a great day.

Rusty, we pray that you will become a man of God. We pray that you will have a heart that is sensitive to the needs of others and that you will serve God with your whole life. We love you, and we thank God for you. You are our precious gift.
"I prayed for this child and the LORD has granted me what I asked of Him. So now I give him to the LORD. For his whole life he will be given over to the LORD."
I Samuel 1: 27-28

Love, your mom and dad
