I shot the Sheriff...

You know how sometimes there is a car accident or a train wreck or something of the sort and everyone can't help but slow down and look at it? I have decided that "American Idol" is like a train wreck. Sometimes it drives us crazy and at other moments we sit there and wonder why on Earth we are watching it, yet we can't seem to turn away! What is it about this show that inevitably draws us in?

Perhaps you are not like me, maybe you rise above the "Idol" following and watch something more interesting, educational and cultural like "The World's Smelliest Jobs" on Discovery. While I can understand how interesting it would be to watch a guy muck around in the slop of a pig sty, if you gave me the choice I would probably choose AI over the other two.

This time period of the show is the funniest...the audition period. Paula, Simon and Randy keep us all entertained with their little comments, their "arguments," and their idiosyncrasies. And the so-called "singers?" Well...there is no need to explain. When you see a man dressed in the outfit of Dorothy of The Wizard of Oz wearing a blonde Pippi-Longstalkings wig...what else needs to be said? It's fun, cheap, mindless entertainment.

For all you fans out there..."I shot the Sheriff, but I didn't shoot the Deputy...I shot the Sheriff, but I didn't shoot the DepuuuuteeeEEEeee!"

  1. You know...I watched that "World's smelliest Jobs" show last week...It took me back in time, six years ago to be exact, when I was at a real pig farm...:) You remember.

  2. I don't get AI here...but I was able to watch an audition of one guy on yourtube.com.

It was kind of sad, because he really really looked like a girl. And the judges were actually shocked that he was a he. I mean...it was sad how dejected he was afterwards.

Yes...a trainwreck alright, but I love rubbernecking.

  3. One more thing...who was that guy who sang "She bangs, she bangs..." that Ricky Martin song on AL?? He was the best. ;)

  4. His name was William Hung...I think. I'm pretty sure. Yeah, he was funny. He's still getting 15 minutes of fame out of that!
