Training Update

I'm still in training for the Vancouver Sun Run...well, not really TRAINING like some people, but training for me! (My friend Michelle puts me to shame. She's doing the Sun Run AND doing a half marathon just a few weeks later! Maybe I will be there some day!)

I'm pleased to report that things seem to be coming along pretty well for me. This has been a tough week, and up until last night I had not had the opportunity to run since Saturday, the 8th. As I hopped on the treadmill last night-It's raining again, sadly. No more outside runs for a few days!-I feared what the result would be. Would I be struggling through the entire run? I was pleasantly surprised! I found the run to be easy! I even had to crank up the mph, which I had not done for a long time! I guess all of the running outside had prepared me and my body is finally responding.

With all of this cardio, I'm finding that I have finally broken through my weight loss plateau as well. When I weighed myself this morning, I was at the lowest weight I've been since, well, I can't even remember! I was THRILLED! Today I took a moment to look back at some old pictures of myself. Sometimes when you are in the process of losing weight, it's hard to remember how far you have come. Here is how far I have come:
Picture #1: Me in June 2003-this is 38 pounds ago! The cute one on the left is my big sister, Adrienne! She's such a petite little thing...I love to give her a hug!

Picture #2: This is me on our Maui honeymoon. At this point I had lost about 20 pounds from the above picture.

Picture #3: Me in Cali on Spring Break just a few weeks ago. In this photo I am exactly 35 pounds less than the first picture!

It's motivation enough for me to keep hitting the pavement, or the track, or the dirt trail...whatever it may be! I'm feeling healthier, my back pain is lessening, my stomach is shrinking...I actually have a waist! I have just 11 days until the Sun Run! Hopefully on the 23rd I'll be posting about how I successfully completed it! Hmmm...I guess I'd better get to the gym!

  2. I can't wait to start training for my half marathon in May: I gained some weight in China and since my boyfriend came back...anyways, good luck and congrats!

  3. You can do it Sis! I know you will have fun, no matter how you do, but I will be excited to hear about it! Isn't it funny, I always ran distance in track, but I have NEVER wanted to run marathons or stuff like that? That's just TOO long for me! =) Or maybe it's just my old age. =)
