The Busyness of Life

Well, I'm packing...again. My friend Michelle and I were talking last night about how much we have packed, unpacked, and repacked over the last three months. I simply can't complain though! Every time I have packed my suitcase it has been for a great opportunity of some sort. First it was three weeks in Europe, then a trip to Oregon to see my hubby, camping on Vancouver Island, and now I'm packing to go camping yet again.

I have the great opportunity to go on the annual camping trip with the girls' PE 12 class tomorrow night. They go every year and head up to Cultus Lake. We will be leaving right after school tomorrow afternoon. It doesn't take long to get there and once every has their tents set up we get to have dinner outside, play games, and then comes the best part of the night, our devotional time. We all get to gather by the fire and sing songs, share what God is doing in our lives and just bond. It is a great way for these young ladies to start their final year of high school. Last year I was asked to go as a chaperone and I was completely blessed by the experience. When I was asked again this year I jumped at the opportunity. So, tonight I pack! I'm packing my sleeping bag, air mattress, food, and Michelle's hiking shoes! Thanks Michelle! On Tuesday we all go on a hike together. It's about a three hour hike up and then a quicker hike back down-of course. I'm really looking forward to that as well. It will be some good exercise...we are hoping for good weather!

I'll be back at school on Wednesday and that evening we have a date with Kev's parents. It will be good to spend some time with them, as we haven't really seen them since Kev's party a few weeks ago. His dad promised to make me some salmon, which is one of my favorite things to eat, especially when he bbq's it! YUMMY! Thursday will just be a normal day...except it is PAJAMA DAY at school! Yay! That's my favorite day all year because I get to be SOOOOO comfortable all day. It doesn't get much better than wearing your slippers all day. On Thursday night I will be packing yet again. I will be leaving the next morning on another field trip with the school. This is what happens when you are one of the only females at the school without kids and not coaching something! I'm excited about all of these neat opportunities.

Our group will be leaving the school at 7 a.m. on Friday morning to drive all the way to Long Beach, Washington. I will be driving the pickup truck and trailer with everyone's gear, so everybody please pray that I do all right with that! We will drive all the way down to the beach that day and we will be camping at Cape Disappointment that night. The kids are in a Geography 12 class and they get to do all kinds of fun things like analyzing the rock formations, visiting the oldest lighthouse in the area, and finally, on Saturday we will be going to Mt. St. Helens. I am thrilled to be doing that. I have always wanted to see it but just have never had the chance since moving up here.We are planning to get back to the school around 9 p.m. on Saturday night. I think I will then probably make a stop off at Kev's hockey game. It's bound to be a busy week, but I'm ready to go on all of these fun adventures.

We are certainly in full swing now. School is going well for both of us. I really enjoy my classes. The kids are so keen to learn Spanish and they make it so much fun to teach them. We have started up our Bible study group again for the year. We are meeting on Tuesdays again, just as we did last year. We will be meeting every other week again this year and we are going to try out something that I'm really excited about this year. On the off weeks every other time it will be girls' night out! This week is our first time. The girls will go out for dinner and a movie and the guys get to stay home and take care of the kids. The next off week it will be the guys' turn to go out. We think it's going to be pretty fun to have some girls' time.

I'm also excited about a new friend that I met last night at Kev's hockey game! She was sitting next to me on the bench and wasn't cheering for anyone on our team but we struck up a conversation and soon we were chatting away like old friends. She has just moved to Abbotsford and we exchanged numbers so that we can go out for coffee soon. I'm always amazed at the way that God just brings people into our lives.

Well, I guess I'd better quick procrastinating and get back to packing...my suitcase won't pack itself!
