Today as I crossed the Port Mann Bridge on my way to work I was greeted with a beautiful sight. The sun was rising over the Fraser River and it was covered with fog. The wispy, gray clouds hung in place so that the water was obscured. I knew it was there, yet I could not see it. The fog filled my view so that I could see only it floating below me. As I looked off into the distance the fog met the mountains on the horizons. They gleamed a gorgeous almost sapphire blue color. It's a color that I can't even describe...it reminded me of Kevin's eyes. I found it difficult to keep my eyes on the road because the beauty beside me was so great. Just above the mountains the sun was slowly rising and it was this firey orange, yellow and red orb. It was also partially concealed by the fog and it simply glowed. I wish that you could look inside of my eyelids, for I took a mental picture as I drove across the bridge this morning. I couldn't help but start to sing my praise to God for the beautiful sunrise he had created, just for me it seemed!
Today on the way home, it wasn't quite so lovely. The sun had burned off all of the fog. The unseasonably warm weather means a lot of smog and the brown haze hung in the air. The gorgeous blue mountains of the morning had turned a dull blue gray. The sun was just burning in the sky, no fog to filter it out. Although it wasn't the same gorgeous picture, I knew what was capable and the beautiful picture again filled my mind. After a busy day and a drive home that was filled with me praying and trying to think through something that had come up, I was thankful that I had that picture from the morning to calm my soul. With that picture came the thought of how great God really is, and how he just wants to bless us with things like amazing sunrises. He is a good God! How great thou art, Lord, how great thou art!
