The Weather Outside is Frightful...

Well, it's not really frightful...it's actually rather wonderful! We are having a full blown winter snow storm! I love it! Last night after church, we went to Subway to grab some dinner. We left at about 8:15 p.m. and drove home. It was snowing a little bit, but nothing too big. Around 8:45 p.m. we stepped outside to the car to head to Kevin's hockey game and it was a different story! Big, fat, wet flakes were coming down fast and furious!

As we made our way down the main road toward the freeway, we realized it was pretty slick. We were crawling along at about 30 kilometers an hour, wondering if we were crazy to be heading to Langley for a hockey game! We made it and the game was all right. By the time we got home, though, it was coming down pretty hard, there was quite a build up on the cars and it was sticking! Yay! I was SO excited that I had to get some pictures before we went inside, just in case it wasn't there in the morning. (Just in case you were wondering, I have such a weird look on my face because it was COLD!)
I didn't need to worry. This morning when we woke up, it was still snowing. There were several inches of the stuff on the ground outside of our house and it wasn't showing any signs of stopping. We were glad we had gone to church last night! We snuggled up in the nice warm house and watched some football, cleaned, and just relaxed. The picture below is of our backyard. The view is breath-taking!Finally at about 1 p.m. I started to feel a little housebound. We decided to make a break for it. After cleaning off the car, an impromtu snowball fight and shoveling the driveway (Kev did most of it, I'm just posing!) we headed to the grocery store and mall. It was nice to get out and enjoy the fresh air.It's so wonderful. It feels like I'm back in South Dakota. There is nothing like a blanket of beautiful white snow to make everything seem magical. One thing I'm not so sure about is that the snow here is VERY wet and MUCH more slippery than SD snow. I'm not a big fan of driving in it. Kevin is trying to get me to take the day off of work tomorrow, since I have about an hour drive there, but I figure it will either be cancelled or the roads will be good enough for me to get there! I guess we will see! Here's to a SNOW DAY!
