My Parents...Here...Soon!

Wow! Today I clicked on my blog to check the blogs of my friends and I actually looked at the ticker on the top. It's been up there for so long that I have kind of forgotten about it but today it shocked me. It's only 12 days until I get to see my mom and dad!

One of the exciting things about this is the fact that I do not have to make a twenty hour trip both ways to do it. They are going through that torture, but I don't think they really mind. It will be great for them to be in the car together that long...they are busy people. I also know that my dad is good at driving on long trips. He often drives a ten hour day by himself on his business trips. They're crazy...they are planning to drive all the way to Seattle in the first day so that we can meet them there the next day for a baseball game!

Oh man, I'm so thrilled to have my parents here and have them ALL TO MYSELF! It's not that I mind sharing with my siblings when I'm home, it's just busier. I also know that when I go that way I often feel obligated to visit many different people since we only get there once a year. I don't have to do that up here. They are mine, mine, mine! Do I sound like the seagulls on Finding Nemo yet? My parents also don't have anyone that they have to visit up here, so we can just do whatever we want! What should we do? What would you other BCites do if your parents were coming to visit for the first time since your wedding three years ago (and they didn't really have a chance to see or do anything then because it was so busy?)

Here are our plans so far:

  • Saturday the 28th: We will meet them in Seattle and go to a Mariner's game. I love baseball, Kevin loves baseball, my dad loves all sports and caused me to love them too by watching them constantly as I was growing up. My mom has never been to a MLB game and she is thrilled to be going! We will eat hot dogs, garlic fries, drink lots of pop, wear lots of sunscreen, bask in the sun and just enjoying a day of a great sport. Go Mariners!

  • Monday the 30th: They want to see where I work, so I'll be taking them out to my school. They can see my classroom, maybe meet some colleagues, and just picture their little girl in her grown up job. Exciting! Then we'll head out to Harrison to check out the sand castle competition.

  • Tuesday the 31st to Wednesday the 1st: We'll go up to Keats! I'm so excited to take them there, because it is such a big part of my life! I LOVE Keats and I have talked about it so much with them. My little sister Candace went up there when she came to visit last summer and went home talking about it as well, so my parents are very intrigued! I think it will be a highlight. We'll go for walks, bbq steaks...yum!

  • Friday the 3rd: I want to take them up to Whistler! When you go to Whistler, what do you like to do? What is your favorite place to visit up there? I need ideas people!

  • Saturday the 4th: We will be going to the fireworks down at English Bay! Problem though, my mom is extremely claustrophobic and I think if we take her to the main beach she will freak out...anybody know of some good places to watch the show that don't have the same number of people?

  • Monday the 6th: Boohooo...they will be leaving. I will cry, because I always cry when I have to say goodbye to them, but I will be SO happy that I got to spend that quality time with them. Plus, I will have given them a little vacation and that is important to me!

Yay...only 12 more days!!!!
