A Good Man

That guy up there in the picture, the one with the amazing blue eyes and the brown shirt? He's a good man. He has shown me that in amazing ways the last five months. I always knew that Kevin would be a good father, but you just don't realize how good your husband will be until you see him in action. He's amazing.

I have fallen in love with him more than ever the last few months. He has stepped up to the plate to be the kind of father that Rusty needs. He plays with him, kisses him, hugs him, tells him he loves him. He takes care of me! He gets up an hour earlier than he needs to every morning so that I can get some extra sleep before he leaves for work, and not only that but this weekend he let me know that he wants to be the one to get up at 6 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays so that I can go back to bed. Wow! We did that this past Saturday and I slept from 6 until 9:30, at which point Rusty went down for his nap and Kev came back to bed and we snuggled, talked, and slept until 11! Talk about bliss!

Kevin teaches Rusty. He is the one that taught Rusty to stick out his tongue, to "give a high five," he always is talking to him, pointing at Rusty and saying his name and then pointing at himself and saying "Daddy." He throws Rusty in the air and gets giggles of glee. He holds Rusty in his arms and snuggles up to him. He never shies away from dirty diapers, he takes joy in giving Rusty his rice cereal. He sings to Rusty, he rolls around on the floor with him, snuggles in bed with him, reads him stories...he's an amazing dad.

Not only has Kevin been an amazing dad, but he's continued to be a wonderful husband. He makes sure that I get my down time, he sends me away for spa treatments, he made sure that I had an oppturnity to fly home and be with my sister and her baby, he prays with me and for me, and he is just there.

I'm blessed to have such a good man in my life, and Rusty is blessed to have Kevin as a father. I know that Kevin often looks forward to the days when Rusty can toddle up to him as he comes in the door from work, or when they can sit in the boat together fishing in the early morning summer hours. I think these two have a lifetime of being buddies ahead of them, but more than that, I know that Kevin will always be a good example of what a man of God is to Rusty. He's a good man!

  1. So great! It sounded like you were describing my husband and the way he is with our 5 month old - minus the amazing blue eyes :)

  2. I was looking for an email on your blog but couldn't find one, so I'll just post this here for you, you don't have to post it to your comment section.

I thought you would really enjoy reading this story of God's grace

It's a family blog of a pastor at a church in Emo Ontario telling the story of how his house burned to the ground. It's amazing and it'll make you cry. Find the blog titled "And I was wondering what I would write about" or something like that.
