And now, we will pause in our regular Olympic programming to update you on the OTHER aspects of life in our household...or rather, one day of life in our household.
I know that not everyone is as obsessed with the Olympics as I am right now. Hey, what can I say? I have always been an Olympic girl...oh yeah, the other parts of my day.
Well, today was just one of those days! It started last night. We got home late, as we had been downtown at the Victory Ceremony watching Maelle Ricker get her gold medal for women's snowboarding. Not too mention that the entertainment at that ceremony was Paul Brandt, one of our favorite singers. We loved it, but got to bed a little late. I crashed out RIGHT away-I'm just so tired these days...always something on the go! I was sleeping hard, only to be awakened at 12:30 by our munchkin.
This isn't really normal for him lately, he's been sleeping pretty well. I got him settled, only to have him wake up again at 2...and 3:45. I'm not sure what it was, but it was exhausting! Then I came back to bed only to find my very sick husband snoring loudly. He has a brutal cold that has become much worse due ot everything we have been doing. He couldn't help it, but I couldn't sleep, so I made my way out to the couch. By this time it was about 4:30. I drifted off to sleep...only to be awakened by the ringing of my phone.
It was my first call for work as a substitute teacher in a nearby district. I hadn't been on call lately as I rested and such, and I was dreading that first call! It was there, and then I tried to go back to sleep, but then my mind was racing with all I had to do.
Before 7 a.m.-when I would need to leave to get there on time-I had to shower, take out the garbage and recycling, make my lunch, make Rusty's lunch, pack up my computer, figure out directions to the school, and stop at Starbucks! (I hadn't gotten the coffee ready the night before and couldn't run the grinder and wake the munchkin...after that night I KNEW I would need coffee to keep from falling asleep in the car!) I tried and tried to get that extra half hour of sleep, but it just wasn't to be.
I was up by about 5:45 and getting ready for the day. I hit the road and made my way to the school. The call hadn't said what I was teaching. I hate it when teachers do that. They are supposed to let you know what subjects you are teaching. I went on the school website to look the teacher up and see what his job was, but they didn't have it, just his name. I checked in at the front desk to discover I was teaching GERMAN and GUITAR! Two subjects that I have NO knowledge of! Uh oh!
Luckily it was one of those things where I was basically babysitting them and keeping them on task in their work packets. I made it through the day, that's money in our pockets, and I'm finally home. Man am I tired! I think it will be early to bed tonight!
