Sick

Breathing through my nose is something that I take for granted.  When I lie down at night, I drift off to sleep-usually-and think not even once of the fact that I am breathing deeply, in and out.  Lately...not so much.

I am sick.  It's not the first time I've been sick since having Rusty, but it's the first time I have been sick enough to want to throw in the towel.  I'm not sure why, but it's taking a lot out of me.  A lot.  I remember days like these before I was a mom.  I would take the day off of work, lie in bed, rest, drink lots of water, maybe watch a movie.  I would suck on lots of cough drops...take some buckley's...just chill.

As a Mom, being sick is different.  I still have a little munchkin to take care of.  He needs me to keep up with him.  Man it is tough!  I can't just lie in bed.  I tried this afternoon while Rusty was napping.  All I could think about-besides the fact that I couldn't breathe through my nose-was the pile of stuff that was waiting to be done, and how me lying in bed meant later trying to do it when Rusty was awake.  That's not easy or fun.  I would rather read him a book, take him outside, or put together a puzzle with him.  He would rather I do that too.

I really want to just sleep for two or three days.  I am trying to get the fluids, I'm rambling...it perhaps shows you how I'm feeling.  No fluidity to this blog.  I just have to complain...a little.  Being sick stinks.  I'm ready to breathe through my nose again.  I'm ready to have energy back.  I'm ready to get out there and enjoy this sunshine and not feel like I would rather snuggle up under my covers.

OK, I'm done complaining!  Back to work...the little man will be waking up soon!

  1. Oooo I hope you get better quickly - and I hope he doesn't get sick too! Not fun being sick with a sick kid too. It doesn't quite feel fair!
