Revisiting that summer list

Tonight I decided to check back on that summer list I made about a month back.  Summer seems to be flying by at breakneck speed.  I can't say that I am complaining though...just the other day the amazing hubby and I were talking about how jam-packed this summer has been in a very good way.  Usually the end of summer comes and we think that copious amounts of time were simply wasted, but not this summer!  I think I owe a lot of it to Nessa and the kids for coming up.  They started our summer off with a bang-and the long awaited heat wave the Lower Mainlanders had been craving!

So, back to the summer list...let's see how I'm doing.

Eat lots of those fruity freezy pops-I haven't had A LOT, but I have had several!  Man are they good!  This year I spent a little extra and got the 100% juice Mott's brand and they are extra tasty!  Rusty does NOT like them, however.  Something about the cold in his mouth.  It's the same with ice cream!

Get a start summer right pedicure-So far I have done it, but it was just the mini pedi that was super speedy! I'm not so certain that counts.  I am VERY happy to report, however, that just today I booked a massage AND a full on Spa Utopia pedicure for next Tuesday.  It's bound to be at least two hours of bliss all to myself!  I have a gift card that has been sitting in our drawer for two years!  It's about time I used that thing.

Have a beach picnic with Rusty and some friends-This one has not yet been accomplished...any volunteers??? Laura, I'm thinking maybe you?

Take a walk out to my favorite place on my island, Salmon Rock-Not only did I accomplish this one, but I did it with flair!  When Nessa, Steven and the kiddos were up visiting we went as a big group.  It was a blast and I was super happy to share this wonderful place with some of my favorite people.  Little Rusty surprised me and actually walked ALL THE WAY OUT THERE!  Without complaining!  He had to be carried a bit on the way back, but pretty impressive for a little kiddo that still isn't even two!

Watch an island sunset with my hubby on Sandy Beach (hopefully while Nana and Papa watch the munchkin!)-So, this for sure has not happened yet.  We have BEEN to Sandy Beach as a family, but not just the two of us...and not for the sunset.  I'm thinking this will happen in about a week though, when we plan to head up there before heading to South Dakota.  I will share this picture of our little family trip to Sandy Beach.  Rusty and I walked out there in the morning and then called Daddy on the cell phone and asked him to come.  This was waiting for him.  He loved it!

Walk the seawall with my Nancy-I was finally able to enjoy this on Tuesday.  I love the seawall, but I particularly love walking it with Nancy.  I missed that so much...I missed my TIME with her so much.  Walking along talking about life and catching up was pretty much bliss.  I love that girl...she was my first real, true friend when I moved up here, and remains dear to my heart to this day.

Go strawberry picking at the farms nearby with Rusty-Well you saw the post on this one!  We went with our good friends and had a BLAST!  I really enjoyed it and was so impressed with how well the monkeys did with picking.  We made it through half of a row before they started to want to wander.  I also came home with some oh so delicious berry syrup and a pie that we finally enjoyed the other night.  I definitely want to go back there!

Kayak at Rocky Point at least once (Jess, can you help me out with this one??)-Wow, this might be one of those that doesn't get accomplished?  With us leaving for South Dakota in just under two weeks and only one week before heading to work when we return I might not get this one done.  I'm ok with that.  As much as I love kayaking and Rocky Point, it's ok if they don't happen together this year.

Finish putting up the pictures in the upstairs of our home-Although I don't have all of them put up I did accomplish that MAJOR project that was the photo wall and I STILL love it!  Some nights as we are eating we just look at those pictures and get silly little smiles on our faces as we remember the memories behind the photos.  Rusty loves to look at the photos and say "BEACH" or "MAMA and DADA AT HOCKEY!"  He loves the photo wall just as much as I do.  Just a few more pics to go up and then I will feel mostly moved in!

Take some sort of a getaway, just hubby and me-We just got back from our amazing, romantic, lovely weekend in Whistler, BC.  My hubby planned it all out, and I didn't even know where we were going until we left.  I absolutely loved every minute of it, from golfing to hiking to sitting at dinner together for over two hours!  I love that man so much.  He's so amazing and he put so much thought into making the weekend full of things that I love to do!

Make some good old USA unsweetend sun tea on the deck-Wow, I forgot about this one!  Maybe I can talk my mom into making some when I am home.  Does that count???

Visit at least one part of this gorgeous area that I have never been to...ambleside???-We haven't yet gone to a place we haven't visited before.  Sunday we are planning a family day downtown so maybe we will go somewhere then that will fit this criteria!  I'll be sure to take lots of photos-like you would expect anything less!

Make my very own fresh blackberry pie-I can't do this one until blackberry season arrives!  We had the first blackberry the last weekend we were up but it was still pretty tart.  Not those sweet selects that make the best fresh pie.

I guess the list is doing better than I thought!  We have also enjoyed so many other wonderful things that weren't originally on the list, including hours of time just chilling in the backyard playing with Rusty.  Those have been my favorite moments of the summer.  His little almost two year old giggle when his daddy chases him across the yard is something I wish I could bottle and listen to whenever I want!
