Pumpkins, leaves...red, brown, orange!

I am so into fall this year.  I'm not sure why.  Normally I don't get all excited about the various seasons, I simply watch them come and go.  Perhaps I'm getting older and therefore a bit more nostalgic, or maybe it's just all of the wonderful things that come with fall, but I'm excited.  Fall is here, and I love it!

Some things I'm loving about fall:
  • Pumpkin:  I love the actual pumpkins themselves, I love the fact that we can take Rusty to the pumpkin patch and let him pick out his own, I love carving them, I even love the flavor! I  DO NOT love pumpkin pie, I can't stand the texture, but other things pumpkin?  Bring them my way!  This afternoon I was inspired to bake some pumpkin cupcakes-I had seen the recipe on the Martha Stewart website and I'm sorry, I have to toot my own horn.  They are delicious!!  I was sharing one with Rusty and he kept asking for "Just another tiny bite Mommy?  Just another tiny bite?"
  • I love the colors of fall.  All of the various shades of red, brown, orange, yellow...they blend together so beautifully.  I can't wait to dress Rusty in his gorgeous brown sweater and orange henley for the pumpkin patch tomorrow and snap photos of him amid all of the bright, orange pumpkins!  We have a stunning maple tree in our front yard and right now the leaves are the most amazing scarlet shade.  My husband hates it because it continually sheds leaves that he has to rake but I enjoy it.  It's beautiful.
  • I love decorating for fall!  One of my listy things was to do a little decorating for each season, and now that I have my own home I am find myself turning into one of those women that wants to go to Michael's and shop for bargains!  I become excited about the cute little "Give Thanks" blocks that are painted in fall colors and wonder where I can put them in my home.  I found myself pondering the sale aisles at Superstore today wanting to buy all sorts of "fall-themed" items.  I managed to come away with only a $5 pack of fake gourds. I originally had real gourds, but some of them were rotting, and Kevin hated them, so I figured fake is the way to go.  I can reuse them next year, and they add a bit of festive touch to our living room!
  • I love the crisp, fresh air of fall.  Right now we are avoiding the rain, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get one more day of this beautiful weather so we can truly enjoy the pumpkin patch tomorrow.  Rusty is beyond excited to go, and every day asks if he is going to the "punkin patch!"  I think he will have a lot of fun tomorrow...as long as it isn't pouring rain!
What do you love about fall?

Hello, friend!:) Hope you are feeling all better now. Perhaps a 'tea' date in a few weeks? Adorable pumpkin patch pics!
LOVE the sound of those cupcakes. I've been looking for some pumpkin recipes. Make a good squash soup last week, but cupcakes sound way more appealing :)
