Life is full of good things right now. Although we are busy, we are oh so good. Last weekend Kev and I had a getaway. We went down to Seattle with some friends and enjoyed some shopping and football. I love the NFL and hadn't been to a game for years, so my excitement levels were extremely high. Unfortunately, the game did not deliver. It was one of the worst games I have ever seen, on TV or in person. The final score was 41-7 and we actually left at the end of the third quarter. We have never done that, and neither had many of the droves of other fans we were walking out of the stadium with. Kev's face at the end says it all...
The game's major redeeming quality was the fact that it was the weekend to celebrate the Veterans of the country. I appreciated the honor that was shown to them, and of course cried a little bit during the halftime show honoring them. We went with a couple of our good friends and although we didn't quite have the night of blissful sleep we were hoping for, it was still so great to hang out with each other, talk, enjoy amazingly tasty food, and just relax. Rusty was back home having a ball with his Nana and Papa. He slept great, ate great, and went to church and attended his very first Sunday school class! They said he did great, and we are now hoping to be able to transfer him from the church nursery into the pre-school class at our own church. He was pretty proud to show us his Sunday school paper.
The other great thing that is happening in our house right now is R.E.N.O.V.A.T.I.O.N.S.!!! That's right, the renos are in progress. My amazing husband and his tireless father were working harder than they should have the last few days. Kev first of all cleared out our family room of all of the stuff that was in there, washed down the walls and floors, and then it was time to paint. They finished two coats of paint, as well as ripping out the very last of the nasty, bright orange, indoor/outdoor carpet that was down there. Check it out. After the weekend we are two full coats of paint in, and tomorrow we are planning to head down to the carpet store and check out some options. It's coming together! We will soon have a family room and guest bedroom. Any ideas for colors to paint the wood panel accent wall in the guest room? I want it to be a fun color, but also one that I can live with for a very long time, because I don't see us painting again any time soon.

Two nights ago brought an interesting round of screams to our house. Rusty spotted the hair-cutting kit we had recently purchased-my hubby is tired of the idle chatter at the chop shop and is convinced that I can do a better job at home-and he decided he wanted a haircut. I put Rusty up on the chair, wrapped him in a towel, and then turned on the razor. I showed him that it would be okay, that it wouldn't hurt him and then started in on the cut. I got one swipe in and he was screaming. "I'm done! I'm done! I'm done." Oh brother...he does this every time he gets a cut! We thought that we were done with this after his last haircut was a success, but apparently not. Kevin convinced me to carry on and we were finally done. He went from "Crazy Hair Rusty" to a clean cut boy. It turned out pretty well! There was just one tiny spot in the back that I wish had turned out differently. I really don't want to do it again, but Kev is sure that I will...he says why pay the $10 to go and watch him scream in the salon when we can do it here for free. Sigh. I just hope that he soon outgrows this screaming. Tonight when I asked him if he enjoyed the haircut when his Nana was commenting on how great it was he piped up, "YEP!" Yeah right!
Life is busy, and life is grand! How could it not be when you have a funny little Laundry Basket Head running around? Have a great rest of your weekend!

ReplyDeleteI've never tasted Almond Joy because I just assumed it was like Bounty, which I like every so often. I'll have to put it on my list of things to try.

Rusty must take after his "tio" who hates getting haircuts as well. (although I manage not to scream at the hairdressers!! except of course when they seem to be doing a hatchet job!!)

ReplyDeleteL recently stated that she wanted a haircut, so I took her when I took the boys. She was all for it until the lady asked her to sit in the chair, then she refused. Good thing she is a girlie so I can just keep putting her hair up in pigtails or else I think we'd have a similar situation!
