My Man

My man...amazing.  I used to spend hours sitting at his hockey games on Friday and Saturday nights.  I never missed one, no matter what.  Kids sort of change things.  There are schedules, you must get the little guy to bed, you're tired.  It is just one of those changes that comes along with life.

Rusty is now at the age where he can handle going to bed a little bit late if he needs to.  Kevin had an 8 p.m. hockey game tonight, and we were able to attend.  The whole family bundled up, and we went to cheer on our daddy.  Boy were we glad we went!

Before Kev left for the game he said, "Don't expect much from me tonight, I'm pretty tired."  He had been working hard on our basement all day, cutting and installing the subfloor for the carpet.  He had been measuring, cutting, pounding away all day long.  I know he was sore and tired, but he was ready to work some more...on the ice.

Kev's parents and I drove separately, so we wouldn't have to wait for him to shower after the game.  We walked into the game to the sound of the whistle blowing and saw our guy, our Daddy, MY MAN with his arms in the air, having just scored a goal.  We all pounded on the glass and cheered as loud as we could...little did we know we would be cheering much more later on!

My man scored a HAT TRICK tonight...that's right...for all of you non-hockey fans that means he scored three goals, in one game.  That is not easy to do, it's actually pretty hard.  My hubby, the guy that said, "Don't expect much from me," scored three goals.  I like to think he scored one for me, one for Rusty, and one for Pickle!  Great job, honey!  We love you and we are so proud!

The guys on the team gave Rusty the game puck, they knew he was thrilled to be there seeing his daddy, and we plan on having Kevin sign it with a silver Sharpie marker and we'll label it and put it on a shelf in Rusty's room...it was a great night!
