Whew! I feel like myself again, sort of. A few little odds and ends that I just want to put out there.
- I finally hooked up the Wii yesterday. We bought a flat screen TV during the boxing day sales up here-Kev scored a KILLER deal on it-and we hadn't yet hooked the Wii up. Since I use the Wii as my scale, I had no idea where I was at after having Rocky. While I am feeling good, I know I'm not where I was. After I had Rusty I lost not only my pregnancy weight, but also an additional 10 pounds. I loved that, and I am excited to get back there...but I found out yesterday that I have a bit of a journey to go yet. I guess I shouldn't be too upset, since Rocky is just five weeks old. I officially fit into another pair of jeans that were out of reach on Tuesday, which made me feel good, but those skinny jeans are still a LONG ways off. This is all ok, because it is motivating me to eat a bit less ice cream and to do a bit more walking.
- Speaking of walking, what I really want to do is start running again. If you have followed me for awhile, you know that running is one of my true loves in life. I just love the feeling of getting out there and pounding it out on a trail. I listen to my music, destress and get fit in the process. I have been pretty active my entire life-if you don't count that brief four year spell in university where I gained about 30 pounds, yikes!-and I love doing things that keep me fit. Running in recent years has become a challenge. A bum knee that is leftover from a car accident in grade 8 was making it impossible for me to run. I'm really hoping that now that my knee has had a bit of a break I will be able to get back to running again. I'm going to start trying to run again, as soon as the weather improves on a regular basis. For now I'm trying to walk whenever I can.
- I am very excited to be returning to the point of cooking healthy meals on a regular basis for our family again. We were blessed by many friends and family for quite some time, and then my sister kept us fed for the week she was here. The week after that was when my infection took over and we were simply existing on whatever we could make work during that week. Now that I'm feeling better and getting into something of a schedule with the little man at home, I am cooking again! I love it! We have had something healthy and homemade every night this week, which makes me feel like a mom and wife that is providing for my family again. Now if I could just get Rusty to eat more vegetables than just corn!
- I have caught the crafty bug. I have never really considered myself to be much of a crafty person, and I'm going to stick to the digital photography books, but lately I am longing to learn how to sew! I have a great friend that is giving me lessons. I think it is because we have a house now, and there are so many things that I want to do-curtains, duvet covers, etc-for our home that I know would be better if I could just sew them myself and custom make them! My friend is coming through. The other day we went to Fabricland and found the most amazing fabric to deck out my guest room. I have gone for two sessions with her now and I'm learning all about patterns, how to use the sewing machine and other things that go along with it! I am so thankful to her, and if I can really learn well I'm hoping to maybe find a good sewing machine on Craigslist that I can use. For now my mother in law has loaned me hers. Once I complete some of the projects that I'm working on I will post pics! I recently found something that I can't wait to make on dig this chick's blog. My sewing buddy has assured me that we can make the bag when we finish the bedroom linens. I can't wait to make something pretty for myself!
- And on the note of pretty things for myself...check this out.
I have been lusting after this coffee mug from the first time that I saw it at Starbucks, yet I refused to buy it for myself. I really don't need another new mug, but I could totally see myself sipping my morning coffee-and BOY am I glad to have that morning coffee back hallelujiah!-from it. The money just seemed better spent elsewhere, like a cute outfit for one of my little guys. Fast forward to yesterday and a visit from my friend Leanna, whom my boys refer to as Auntie Lee Lee. She showed up for the visit with a gift for each boy AND one for Mama too! The MUG! I had briefly mentioned my love for it to her one day, and she has had it waiting for me ever since! My coffee just tastes that much better today! Time to go and drink it up!
