My sweet baby boy turned three today. We already had his party with his friends this weekend, and today was all about him. He got whatever he wanted for breakfast-he chose a cereal bar, huh. Then as soon as his baby brother woke up from his nap we took Rusty to one of his favorite places, a local play centre. It is huge, like a jungle with all kinds of nets, slides, and even an indoor, padded soccer area. He loved it, and loved it even more that I was able to go down the slides with him and crawl around in the nets, since Papa was taking good care of Baby Brother.
Next we met up with Daddy-who was at a work meeting...school starts soon :(-and Nana at Red Robin's. We told Rusty he could go anywhere he wanted for lunch, and he chose Red Robin's. We were okay with that, because we love eating there too! He gobbled up his french fries, mac and cheese, and apple slices.
He got a little bit scared and shy when they came out to do the birthday cheer, but perked right up when he saw the huge dish of ice cream they brought. He said, "It has SPRINKLES!" and then proceeded to eat about two bites. Yum, all the more for us! He LOVED his balloon and cried, of course, when it flew away when we got home. He quickly got over it though and was back to his happy self!
We finished the day by letting him watch whatever shows he wanted at home-he chose Bob the Builder and Roary the Racing Car-and then some soccer in the backyard. We loved spending the day celebrating our precious boy. Three years ago he rocked our world when he entered it, and our love for him just grows with each day that passes! Happy birthday baby boy! I can't believe you are THREE!

Catching the Good.11 years ago

I had to laugh at the part about losing the balloon. On Bells' 4th birthday, she wanted to go to Applebee's. They gave her the balloon. We then went to Walmart, leaving the balloon in the car. We drove home and as soon as we got the balloon out of the car, she lost it and it flew away. She proceeded to cry for about an hour about "Balloony"...the balloon that she literally spent less than 10 minutes with. Every time we went to a restaurant after that, she refused to get a balloon, and would cry about how much she missed Balloony. Two years later, she got a balloon for the first time since at Red Robin...and it came untied losing all the helium when we were getting her into the car. We are cursed when it comes to balloons!!! ---Abby
