Cute Things

The boys are so scrumdittliumptious that I could just eat them right up these days.  They are at a truly wonderful stage, which is excellent timing since I am home with them two days a week totally on my own!  I'm not going to lie, at first I was unsure about that.  After an entire summer with Kev around I wasn't sure how I would handle all of that Mommy and Boys time, but it is amazing!

Some of the cuteness as of late...
RUSTY:
Rusty is stinking cute these days!  I tell him that all of the time and he says it right back to me.  "Mommy, you are STINKING cute!"  He is HUGE!  He has grown so much and people are constantly asking him how he likes kindergarten, to which he gets confused.  Kindergarten?  He is 43 pounds and 43 inches at his last doctor's checkup.  A big boy!  He still has eyes that twinkle and his hair still gets blonder on the sides than on top.  He added a little scar just below his lip this summer when he fell running out of the bathroom and cut his face on the nightstand in our bedroom.  It amazes me to see him running around, as he runs like such a BIG boy and when I see him walking somewhere and I just catch a glance of him I can't help but think how grown up he looks!

He is so intelligent, and has been asking some really incredible questions these days, especially about God.  We bought a new CD for the car and it is all of the old Sunday School songs.  He asks things like, "Mommy, what do they mean by be careful little eyes what you see," or "Is THIS the day that God made too Mommy?"  The other day he said, "Mommy, what does the peace that passeth understanding mean?"  I love having these conversations.  He really thinks about things and remembers what we say.  Amazing!  He also quickly picks up the words to the songs and it brings such joy to my heart to hear him singing along with the songs!

The boy is still crazy about hockey.  He plays hockey all of the time.  He plays grass hockey, bed hockey, inside hockey, driveway hockey, hallway hockey...tonight he even turned the bathtub into a hockey rink.  He FINALLY has a favorite movie...D2:  The Mighty Ducks.  Yep, that's right.  Forget the cartoons, the boy loves a hockey movie...of course!  We spent some time up at our cottage this summer and I had an old VHS copy of this movie up there (perhaps because in the days it came out I was crushing on one of the characters or something) and he wanted to watch it.  I said sure, thinking it would be like every other movie-watch it for about 15 or 20 minutes and then do something else.  This time?  Not so much!  He watched the entire thing and has been hooked ever since.  He was thrilled when we found a copy of it on DVD at the library the other day and he could watch it again.

He is getting better and better at writing his name, and was even using the iPad to practice other letters the other day when we were driving to the States.  Gotta love technology showing your child how to write letters and having them copy them all on their own as you drive!  It is good for a lot of things!  He also speaks in such a grown up way!  The other day he said, "Daddy, I had something I really wanted to tell you that might be interesting to you!"  And just yesterday we were playing hockey in the backyard and he said, "Mommy that team is really dominating us!"  So funny!

I am crazy for the kid.  I can't stop hugging him, and he is so sweet when he hugs me back.  He probably tells me he loves me at least four times a day, if not more.  He will just look at me and say, "Mommy, I just love you so much!"  It is amazing!

ROCKY:
This kid is a HOOT.  He makes us laugh about a million times a day.  He has a mega-watt smile that can charm you into doing just about anything and he knows it.  He has perfected his pouty look and can drop down into a screaming fit at any moment, but he also can stop it and snuggle up to you sweetly just as fast.

He is a talker!  He knows so many words, there is no way I could count them all up.  These days you can actually converse with the child.  I ask him questions and he can give me one and two word phrases that answer the questions accurately.  A for instance:  The other day my mom was skyping with him.  She said, "Rocky, where is Daddy?"  He said, "Daddy.  Net.  KK."  Translation-Daddy is playing hockey with Rusty.  Pretty good I think!  He knows that net stands for hockey and KK is his name for his big brother.  We will say, Rocky, what do you want to eat?"  His response:  Spoon.  Eat.  Pouch.   Translation-I want to use a spoon to eat from a pouch.  (Pouches being fruit and veggies mixes that we still use in addition to his regular meals to ensure he gets enough of both.)  I am in awe of how much he speaks.  Rusty wasn't speaking as much as his brother at this age and so I am consistently amazed at how well Rocky communicates!

He has the cutest things that he does.  He makes this squinchy fast that just kills me every time.  I will say, "Rocky! SQUINCHY FACE!"  He will scrunch up his little nose and squeeze his eyes shut so tightly.  It is adorable.  He also has his "shy face."  He turns his head to the side and sort of bats his eyes in a shy manner.  So sweet.

These kids are so awesome!  I feel so blessed to be their mom.  They bring amazing joy into my life!
