The Pat Down

Okay, today I officially feel like a TRUE pregnant lady! We flew to Portland today. We came down to Eugene so that Kevin could meet up with some of the people he is working for at the University of Oregon. They are covering all expenses except for my plane ticket, and since we found a great deal online, we decided that I should come along for a little mini holiday with my hubby! I LOVE any chance to get away with him, even if it is to Eugene. It turns out we have a great hotel that even has basketball and racquetball courts-not that I'll be doing any of that, but I DO plan to hit the indoor heated pool tomorrow for a workout! Oregon also has no sales tax, which means SHOPPING!

What made me feel like a real pregnant lady? TWO THINGS! The first came as we went through security at the airport. I wasn't worried about walking through the scanner thing, because I had checked online and knew that was fine, but of course I had to be the one that they chose for the extra security check. The guard whipped out her wand, ready to screen me and I was able to say, with joy actually, "I'm pregnant!" She immediately stopped...I didn't know, however, that this would mean receiving the full pat down in front of all of the others in the line up! She avoided my belly, but everything else got the pats. Oh well, I will gladly do that for the safety of our baby!

The other thing? I bought maternity clothes! My first ones! It was so exciting. I've been wanting to get a pair of cute jeans that I could wear for the entire pregnancy, and I found them today at Motherhood. They weren't even a bad price! Maybe because we were at the outlet center...that and I didn't have to pay taxes since we are in Oregon. I love them. They are so comfortable and they will work throughout the entire pregnancy because of the way they are made. I also bought a top! I put the jeans and top on together...Kevin was elsewhere in the store looking for something in a different size for me. He walked back to the change room and walked right by me! I said, "Honey, do you like the shirt?" He had a look of surprise on his face and said, "Oh! I didn't even recognize you! But I like it!" He is growing fond of the growing bump in my belly. He will probably kill me for saying this, but he sometimes gives it kisses and likes to rub it. I find it very sweet!

Well, I'm off to grab some dinner with my sweetie and enjoy night one of our mini vacation. Maybe later I can post a picture of me in my new outfit!
