I'm feeling Baby move a lot more now. I can never get enough of that. I think I still have some strange fears that flit in and out of my mind, and I don't know that I will feel completely at ease until I hold the little one in my arms. I know that at that moment many other emotions will come in to play, but I will just be so happy to see the baby! I look forward to the weeks going by, and feeling the baby's movements become stronger and stronger. I was thinking yesterday, however, about how just a few weeks ago I would go ALL day just waiting to feel movement, and now it is pretty consistent throughout the day. I'm very thankful for that. I know many of you are praying about that exact thing, knowing my fears about movement, and I appreciate it. Keep it up!
We have been taking prenatal classes and I love them! Our teacher is great. She's funny, she's honest, and she really knows her stuff. She knows everyones' names and checks up with us on our situations. We have gone through three classes so far and I feel so much more knowledgeable about the process of labour and methods for pain management.
Last night we were talking about medicinal intervention as far as pain management goes. I'm not a woman that will say I won't get an epidural or I won't do this, or I won't do that, because I have no idea how I'm going to actually handle this, but it's definitely good to know all of the options, both natural and medical.
After last night's class, I know where I stand. I definitely want to try to have this baby without drugs like an epidural. I'm not opposed to something like laughing gas, especially after hearing all about it last night. I appreciate all of the pain management methods we are getting, and feel like I will have a lot of options available to me. I can try showering, massage, and so many other things. Plus, Kevin is really taking all of this in, and will be so helpful as well. We have talked about what I want together so that he knows where I stand as well. Our teacher suggested having a "code word" that tells Kevin that I am serious about wanting the epidural. Until I say that word-which we figured out last night-he is to try suggesting other options for the pain to me, such as going for a walk, going in the shower, trying back massage, etc. It's interesting to think about all of this! I like to think I'm a tough girl, but really, I have no clue how I will handle it! I mostly don't want to be disappointed with things, which is why I'm not set in stone about what I will or won't try.
The nursery, as I said, is coming together. We have ordered the crib, and we are picking it up this weekend when we are in the States. It's gorgeous, and I love it. I think that I will love it for awhile. I changed my mind from the original crib we were looking at, because I feel that this one is more timeless.
My family has also ordered our bedding. It's all just waiting to be picked up. Our friend is going to pick it up for us, since it is her box. I LOVE the bedding! I saw it over Spring Break when Kevin and I were at Target in Oregon and knew it was what I wanted! I didn't care if we had a boy or a girl, and I knew that the bedding would work with either. It's called Circles, and it is by the Dwell for Target line. We are going to paint the nursery what we like to call "poo brown" and my friend Laura is going to make beautiful paintings for the walls. They will be of animals like these that are on her art blog. They will probably have a brown background as well, though, and be in colors matching the circles on the bedding. The nursery will probably look somewhat like this! (Except it will have a different crib and dresser, of course!!)
As far as my growth, I think it continues to go pretty well. My weight gain is on target, and I've been trying to get exercise more regularly. I feel good about the way that I look, and Kevin has been so supportive. There was one morning this week that I wasn't feeling particularly attractive. I had on my pre-pregnancy yoga capris, a tank top, and a t-shirt. I was standing in the bathroom sighing about how I looked when Kevin walked in and said, "You look adorable today!" Aww...perfect timing! He loves my growing belly, and continues to think it is pretty cute. Hopefully he will feel that way for the next three months as well! I will have an updated picture after this weekend. I hit 28 weeks on Sunday, and we'll be at a Mariner's game, so I'll have to try to get my "pregnant shot" at the game! It will be Baby S's first major sporting event! I'm sure it will experience many more in the future since it is being born to sports crazy parents!
As for how I'm feeling, I'm amazed at how many people constantly ask pregnant women how they feel. It's like we have a sickness or something, yet I remember asking the same thing before I was pregnant. Just to let you know, I'm feeling great! Today is a rough day. I have some pretty major back pain, and even came home from work. I was there and working and the pain was traveling down from the middle of my back, into my lower back and down my leg. I'm hoping it's just a temporary thing, and I'm going to do some more stretches and such to try to get rid of the pain. I hadn't really been experiencing much back pain, so this is new. My energy is pretty good, and I was just telling Kevin last night about how much I'm really enjoying being pregnant. I'm thankful that God has blessed us in this way. I hope it continues to be so!
That's pretty much it for now! The Baby S update is complete!
Hi Stacy I'm a friend of Nicole's and often go around reading random blogs. Anyway, I happened upon yours and read that you were thinking about a natural birth. I find that so many women aren't even open to the idea. They are so frightened of pain or something. I can't quite figure it out. When did women stop being able to have babies naturally? They didn't. They only started THINKING that they couldn't do it. For me personally natural birth was pretty much the only choice. I don't put a lot of stock in doctors especially if I'm not sick. And pregnancy isn't an illness. I just wish more people could actually experience childbith the way it was intended. There are powerful endorphins and things released during birth that come with the pain. Natural childbirth is an experience like nothing else. It takes you to your mental and physical limit like nothing else ever will. When that baby comes out it is the BIGGEST high you can feel. You will feel so awesome and like you just kicked so much ass. You will do what is best for you and your baby, but I just don't think women get enough encouragement to give natural a shot and to know that they CAN do it. All we get are Drs and nurses telling us we can't and they are here to make it better. Anyway thats my two cents. Good luck with it all.
