Sunny Days, Chasing the Clouds Away!

Welcome spring!  Today was one of those days that just makes me itch to get out and enjoy the sun.  I love few things more than a good dose of Vitamin D, especially when it involves time with my son and husband.

Rusty is all about playing ball lately.  His two favorite words of the moment are "ball" and "Papa!"  I thought he might enjoy seeing his Dada in action, so we loaded up and headed down to town centre to watch Kevin do this.

He looks good doing it!

Rusty, of course, wanted to get in on the action.  My biggest challenge was trying to get him to understand that he wasn't allowed to kick the ball into the net, even though the big boys were doing that exact thing.  I finally got him interested in playing on the track, while watching Daddy, and then after awhile he was off to explore.

He's getting to be such a big boy now.  He climbed these stairs without even using the railing.  His little legs show how strong they are every day.  He loves to practice jumping and stairs are so much fun.  I have to stay right with him at all moments, because I'm afraid that he might take a tumble!  He's already earned his first forehead scar, I don't really want to add to them!
Rusty really loved watching soccer and running around the complex. At one point he was literally trying to climb the fence to get into one of the other fields to play!
When Kevin was finally done with his practice, Rusty was so thrilled to run up to him and hug him, sweat and all!  He plopped right down in Daddy's lap among all of the other players.  I'm sure he felt so important!

It was such a fun morning that it tuckered him right out.  He came home, had lunch and then went down for a two and a half hour nap...while I enjoyed a nap of my own!  It was bliss to lay snuggled up in my bed, knowing that Kevin was there to handle Rusty if he woke up.  I even read a book for an entire hour!

Once we were all awake, we decided it was the perfect day to pull out our bbq.  We traipsed to the store down the road-yes, I got my husband to go for a walk!-and got the things we needed to make some tasty chicken burgers.

Rusty didn't remember us using the grill last year, I guess he was too small to remember.  He wanted to inspect it, so Kevin held him.  Once he saw how hot it was, he wanted nothing to do with it!  We both laughed as he cried tears of absolute fear, and I cuddled him inside the house, watching Daddy from behind the safety of the screen door.  I don't think it's a bad thing that he is scared of the bbq! At least I know he won't touch it!

Kev's chicken was juicy and partnered with my avocado and bacon on a fresh bun, it was the perfect end to a great day.  I love spring!

  1. Yeah! Bring on the fear of HOT things! Pito is very cautious around hot coffee, much thanks to her serious burn incident last year. :) She talks about it regularly, and every time we pass the hospital (which happens to be conveniently close to our house). I don't think she'll ever be careless around coffee again! :)

  2. I wonder if RJ will have the same reaction to the bbq when we get it out for the first time.
