Coffee Talk

This morning I had a chance to go for coffee with my amazing friend, Ange.  She has been away for seven months, in Cambodia, learning about God, about herself, working with great people.  I missed her...oh how I missed her.  I missed her incredible hugs.  I missed that gorgeous twinkle in her eyes.  I missed her love for life and her love for God.  I missed her ability to sit and draw out the story behind the story that I am putting up front.  I missed how we could sit and talk for hours about everything and anything.  I love that girl.

The coffee was tasty-all warm, hazelnut and creamy milk goodness.  The conversation, though, that was the best part.  I have been in touch with Ange off and on while she was away, but in a way, it was a chance to sit and think back on my life over the past seven months, and it has been amazing.  God has really worked in a lot of ways, and I think sitting and talking about it gave me a chance to just be aware of all that I should be thanking him for!

A few of the highlights:
  • Our new care group.  They have become like a family to us, very quickly.  The way that we get along with all of them, the awesome studies we have had, and the heart to hearts I have already had with the ladies all point to this group being so good for us.  I am so thankful that we found them!
  • Our new home!  God totally worked that one out.  We had been looking for quite some time, and this home just basically came right into our laps.  We are blessed in the way that the details were all worked out, and we are so happy here.  I think of the years we have ahead of us in this place and the memories we will make here, and I want to shout with thanksgiving.
  • My relationship with my husband...it has always been good, but it seems that lately, it is even better.  Maybe it is seeing him as a father, maybe it is the goodness that just comes with time spent together as a couple, but it is great.  I love that I still feel warm and fuzzy over him and get that giggly feeling, yet there is the familiar comfort of being with a man that really knows me.  I like that we can still laugh together, so much, but that he knows in an instant if I need him to listen, or even to hold me as I cry.  I love seeing him growing in God, and also being such an incredible role model to Rusty.  I love the way that he has stepped into new roles-like cooking more-to make my life as a mom easier.  I am constantly amazed at how I can continually fall deeper in love with this man, and he can become more and more sexy to me as time goes on.
  • My relationship with my son.  Oh a mother's love-it can never truly be described on paper, can it?  That feeling that you just want to burst?  Feeling like you could sit and watch your sweet baby sleep for hours?  Lately Rusty is just so funny, and sweet, and...perfect!  For us, that is!  He is not perfect, no one is, but he is the perfect kid for us.  He makes us laugh all of the time.  He wants to be with us.  Just this morning we were playing blocks and I went to do something in the kitchen.  He called me, "MAMA!  MAMA!"  I came back and he pointed at my chair I had been sitting in, and then the blocks and said, "Mama?"  He wanted me to play some more...so I hunkered down and we built and knocked over that tower twenty more times.  I am so thankful that I get to be this boy's mama.  What a blessing that is!
I could write so many more highlights, and we talked about many more this morning.  It was so good to see Ange, and to hear about what God is doing in her life, and I really appreciated the reminders of the wonderful things that he is laying out for our family.  We are blessed indeed!
