Life is so good right now. I know I keep focusing on work full time and how crazy that is, but overall? It's overflowing with goodness. There are smiles and giggles every morning when I wake up and every night before bed. There are hugs from the hubby, jokes from my students, good jobs from my colleagues, and late chats with friends. Life is a blessing, an overflowing, precious gift that I'm not wasting.
The munchkin is all kinds of crazy love these days. He simply can't help but be absolutely adorable. Every morning he wakes up-nice and early, ha ha...who needs an alarm clock?-and the first thing he wants to do is simply snuggle. He will often come into the bed with us an simply lay there, holding my neck and saying, "Love you Mommy." Oh how my heart does melt into a little puddle at the foot of the bed during those moments. In these times of busy work days those moments are bliss. With my big guy snoring beside us and my little guy snuggled up into my neck I feel like life is perfect in those moments.
Rusty is also a chatterbox to the extreme! We are always laughing at the newest phrase that comes out of his mouth. Lately he has started saying, "Ok, ok Mommy!" with a cheerful voice every time I tell him to do something. I am certain that it is something that has come from being in daycare, and it is insanely adorable. He also is really, really into singing. A lot. At the top of his lungs. One day we were at the grocery store, all three of us, and I ran down another aisle to grab something while Kev stayed with him. It was really busy, people milling everywhere, a crazy Saturday afternoon. Suddenly, I hear, at the TOP of his lungs, "BAA BAA BACK SHEEP HAVE YOU ANY WOO!" I started laughing right there in aisle 12. I knew my way back to my cart simply from the sound alone. He also has moved into the world of pronouns! Now instead of saying Rusty's book or Rusty's blanket he says I and mine. It's so crazy to me how those moments just happen.
Kev is also blowing my socks off. He has really stepped up to the plate. One of the things I really worried about when we took this job was our relationship and how we would still find time to connect, if we would take care of each other, and if we would still have that close, laughing, fun relationship that we have always had. He has far exceeded my expectations yet again. One of the things I love the most about this man? His ability to listen. He really listens to what I say and follows through. Before I ever started this job I said I was going to need him to help me each night to get things done before we sat down to relax. Every night, without fail, he has asked, "What can I do to help you?" Amazing.
We've not lost our connection and we even have planned a date for tomorrow night! I am so excited to get out with my hubby. Our conversations have not lacked or stopped, and we will probably have plenty to talk about tomorrow night too. I love hearing about his day and the things he is doing with his students and he is so encouraging to me with my work and to me as a mother. He is consistently telling me how great I am doing in my role as wife, mother and teacher. He also constantly encourages me to connect with friends because he knows that it is so helpful to me and allows me to be refreshed.
I am also being blessed by my friendships. I was afraid of losing touch with some of them, but I have found that hasn't been the case. I might not have the daily connection that I had with them, but I still feel close and have even met up with one for tea and another for a wonderful, long, Sunday afternoon chat. I love the wonderful women in my life. They enrich my life, they challenge me, they bring me joy, we laugh...they are amazing! Their funny phrases make me laugh, their joy fills me up, their kind words lift me up. What a blessing they are.
The baby, well the baby is amazing! Pickle is an active baby for sure. Lots of kicks and wiggles all around. I feel like this baby is constantly on the move. I know that a lot of moms say that is annoying, and maybe Pickle is still small enough that I am not as bothered as I may be in the future, but right now I simply love it. I can't find one bad thing to say, even when it wakes me up in the middle of the night! Maybe it's because I wasn't sure if I would ever feel those movements again, or maybe it's just that I missed feeling those little kicks and wiggles within, but every time I get a little thump or bump I also smile inside. I can't wait to meet this little baby...it's going to bring such great joy into our lives. I already think and wonder what this wee one will be like. What will this baby's personality be? What will it look like? One thing I DO know is that this baby seems to be permanently settled upon my bladder! I do NOT remember this with Rusty! I feel like I have to run to the staff room at every possible break to be able to survive the day!
Life is so overflowing right now! I just continually have to say thanks!
