Little Rusty is growing up so fast. Tonight he had his first "lessons." We originally wanted to sign him up for skating lessons, because he just really wants to be like Daddy, but Mommy was NOT so on the ball and all of the skate classes filled up before I could get him signed up. Oh well, there is always next year!
Some friends of ours were planning to take their son to the Parent and Tot swim lessons at the pool near our house, so we thought that would be a good alternative. I took Rusty to Water Babies when he was just about five months old, and he loved it. He also loves bathtime and going in the water at our cottage, so we figured this would be a good fit.
He LOVED it. He was so excited to go swimming with Daddy tonight. It's a class where the parent stays with the child the entire time and the instructor gives suggestions on things Kev can do to get Rusty used to the water. Tonight he practiced lying on his back in the water, blowing "bubbles" in the water, and jumping from the side into Kevin's arms. He was smiling almost the entire time.
It was wonderful to see him having so much fun, and especially wonderful to see both of my boys finally feeling well enough to do something like this! He missed the first class on Tuesday because they were both still not feeling quite up to par. They have 8 more classes, and I think that by the end of it he will be really comfortable in the water, which is great for this summer at the cottage!
