Two Months and Other Fun Stuff

Cutie Pie

Our little guy is officially two months old.  Saturday saw us rejoicing in having him in our lives for two wonderful, rich months.  He is just an amazing, beautiful addition to our family, and I often find myself smiling into his gorgeous blue eyes and wondering how we ever managed without him!
Two Months Old!

Two months old is finding Rocky to be many things!  He is:
  • BIG!  Today we took him for his two month checkup and he weighed in at 14 pounds, 8 ounces!  He has gained six pounds since he was born, and he grew just over an inch, with a length of 23.6 inches.  Even his head is big!  He is so healthy and our doctor was just amazed at his growth since the last time she saw him.  It just reminds us of how incredibly blessed we are!  You would never know that he had a bit of a rocky start...he is just the picture of health now!  He took his shots like a champ and cried for less than 30 seconds-of course my nursing him probably helped with that!  Whenever he has food he is happy!
  • Super smiley!  This boy smiles...almost all of the time!  If he is fed, clean diapered, and burped then he is probably smiling.  Some of my favorite times are when I am sitting in the chair just snuggling with him.  Often we are watching a show or something and I will look down to see him smiling up at me, just waiting for me to notice him!  Even when he is feeding the smiles don't stop...I will look down to see his little eyes just smiling away at me as he gulp, gulp, gulps up the breastmilk.  It is just so precious.  His eyes show so much emotion, they are incredibly expressive!
  • Very interactive!  He is always looking around to see what is going on, and if you will sit and talk to him he will be your friend for life!  He loves to "chatter" with anyone that will try.  The person talking to him usually gets showered with his great smiles too, which are just an added bonus!  He even had his first giggle on Saturday night!  He has yet to repeat it, but I was having coffee with a friend and she made a funny face at him and he outright laughed.  Oh the sound was so precious!  He can also sit up in the Bumbo chair now, and we borrowed one from my friend just in time.  This afternoon we sat him in it for quite some time and he seemed so thrilled to be sitting up right!  His neck control is so strong now, and I can't believe how quickly he has morphed from tiny, brand new baby into this smiley interactive guy before me!
  • One of his favorite things right now is his tongue!  It is so hilarious, he is always sticking it out at us.  It is just so cute.

We are loving life with our little guys.  Rusty continues to shower his little brother with love, and we often have to remind him to be gentle!  He wants to just hug his brother so tightly all of the time!  He always says, "Aww, I just love him SOOOO much!"  It is so sweet and I pray often that they will continue to have a tight bond that will simply grow and grow as time goes on!

Life in general has been pretty great!  This week began the start of Kevin's spring break.  This weekend we had a lot of fun together, including Rusty's very first indoor fort.  I have NO idea why I haven't done this before, because he totally loved it, but that morning I set up a fun fort for him in the living room and we spent a lot of time in there stacking blocks, playing cars and just having fun.  He called it his "clubhouse."

This week Kev has been HARD at work!  He had a few goals to complete before jetting off to Vegas with a buddy next week.  He continues to amaze me.  Ever since we bought this house he has worked hard to learn new skills to be handier around the house.  This week he and his dad went and bought the remainder of the baseboards we need for the house and Kev has been outside painting them the last few days.  He also bought plywood to build a cover for the sandbox and has been staining it, cleaning out the sandbox, staining the sides of the sandbox, and just working so hard!  I can't wait for the baseboards to be installed!  Things are getting done around here!

Speaking of getting things done...remember my list??  It IS coming along!  We have painted the wall in the dining room that needed touching up, we have bought and painted the baseboard for the house, it just needs to be installed!  We have to wait on that, as Kev's dad has a friend that can do it and we have to wait for it to fit into his schedule.  Because of that we probably won't get any furniture moved into the family room...doesn't really make sense to move stuff in only to have to move it around or out again to install baseboards...hopefully it will be soon though!  As I said before, Kevin bought and stained the plywood for the cover on the sandbox.  He is working on figuring out how it should be cut to go over the sandbox.  I have not yet hung the pictures.  I need to get a few more frames...maybe I can make a quick trip out tonight!  I am VERY HAPPY to report that I got the cabinet doors painted for the garbage cupboard in the kitchen!  Now we just have to install the hardware and get them hung!  I'm hoping that happens before Kev leaves on Monday morning!!

One of the things that I very much enjoyed this week was my day with Kevin and Rocky yesterday.  Rusty was in school and Kev and I took the opportunity of the great day to head downtown.  I LOVE going downtown.  Rocky did all right.  Unfortunately he woke up while we were eating, and didn't want to settle enough for us to get a walk...he was just hungry!  We had to head back to the car so I could feed him, and by the time that was done we had to head for home.  We did get a small jaunt in along the seawall, as well as a delicious burger at Vera's burgers and I topped it off with a delicious "Buttercup" cupcake from Cupcakes on Denman!  It was a truly great afternoon.  I always enjoy time like that with Kevin...I appreciate that despite the fact we have been married for almost seven years now, we still always have so much to talk about.  I love that guy!
