Missing Him

Kev is away for his annual guys' golfing weekend.  He left yesterday morning at 7:30 and will return late sometime tonight.  They are off to the Seattle area for several rounds of golf, an MLS game last night, and just a lot of laughter and good times.  He has been enjoying this weekend in one form or another for YEARS...since before I ever knew him.  The guys have all evolved and all are married now, many have children, but they continue to carry on this tradition of guys' weekend.  I love that he has those guys and they can do this.  He is such a great husband and father, and I really appreciate that he can go off with these guys and just do some things that he loves, laugh a lot, and get a bit of a break.  However...I miss him.

I really am missing him this weekend.  The house feels just a bit emptier.  Weekends we always spend so much time together as a family.  We often do something fun like a park or outing with the boys on Saturday mornings, we do yard work together in the afternoons, we head to church on Sunday mornings, we eat our special lunch as a family at Taco Del Mar on Sundays...we are just so together.  I feel like I am missing half of myself this weekend.

The boys have been amazing, so it's not that, really...it's just that Kev's voice isn't around.  I don't have him chasing Rusty and hearing the two of them giggle.  I don't have the random conversations that we have popping up and his awesome hugs keeping me going all day.  I didn't have our prayer time together last night before I went to bed, and found it a bit difficult to fall asleep, even as tired as I was.  I didn't have him watching tennis this morning as we all got ready for church.  I just miss him!

I am ready for him to be home, and yet again I have a new appreciation for wives that have to be without their husbands for long periods of time either for military, work, or other purposes.  Kev is such an integral part of our every day lives and I just love him so much.  A few weeks ago our pastor was giving a sermon on marriage relationships and how important it is to not just love one another, but to genuinely LIKE one another.  I was so thankful to realize that I really do like my husband.  I love spending time with him...most of the time if I could I would choose to do something with him rather than someone else!  I can't wait for him to get home tonight!  Miss you honey!
