Little Gifts

I feel like our little guys are such little gifts in our lives.  They are constantly making me smile, laugh and I kid you not, my heart actually floods with joy when I look at them.

Some of the precious gifts of late:
Rusty...the kid is just full of it.  Although he continues to challenge us on a daily basis, he is also so full of love, laughter and outright silliness!  Rusty really loves music.  Often we will pop open the computer and play various songs, and one of his all time favorite songs is "Hosanna."  He loves that song.  Last night he was being really sweet and obeying really well.  He asked if he could listen to "Hosanna" while we ate dinner, so we said he could.  Next thing we knew he was raising up his hands like he was conducting an orchestra and listening with his eyes closed.  It was A.DOR.ABLE!  I wish so much that I had run and grabbed my video camera, but it is a moment that I know will always stay in my mind's eye.  He was absolutely precious.

He also has taken on the responsibility lately of making his baby brother super happy.  If Rocky starts fussing when he is on his play mate Rusty will run over and sing to him, clap, or any other number of things to make Rocky smile.  I love, love, love driving in the car with both of them!!  Rusty will sing to Rocky, or laugh or make funny faces and Rocky goes nuts.  He will just giggle and giggle at his big brother.  It is simply the cutest thing!

Rusty is also learning potty training!  The last two days we have gone full force and he is doing such a great job.  He is so proud of himself and he says, "I don't need diapers anymore!  They are for babies like Rocky!"

And the things he says!  Wow...I wish I had a recorder running 24/7...I can never remember to write everything down!  Some of the gems of late:
"OOOhhh...I'm squeaky clean.  Actually, it's nice to be squeaky clean!"

"Mommy, when Daddy is awake I get to watch Ni Hao Kai Lan.  When you are awake I have to watch a different show because you don't like me to watch Ni Hao Kai Lan so I watch a different show with you."  (After which I told Daddy that Mommy doesn't like the show because sometimes Ni Hao Kai Lan is naughty.)

This morning Kevin had shaved and dumped the shavings in the toilet.  Rusty got up and came in to go potty.  He looked down and started peeing and said "Hey!  I'm hitting Daddy's hairs!  I am peeing them down the toilet!"

Awhile back I was trying to get him to poo on the potty.  He had been sitting there for quite some time.  Finally I said, "Hey Rusty, do you think your poo is coming soon?"  He replied,
"No Mommy, it's resting,  it's having a nap in my bum."  I said,
"Oh, do you think it will come soon?"  He said,
"It will come when it wakes up!"

When my parents were here he crawled up in my dad's lap one morning and said, "Grandpa, I SURE do love you!"

I am crazy for this kid.  When I go in to check on him before I head to bed, I always find my heart overflowing with joy and love for him.  Sometimes I simply want to squeeze the stuffing right out of him!

Our other little gift is amazing as well.  Rocky has started to really take in the things around him, and he is growing so much!  He turns six months old next week, and I can't believe it!  He is sitting up, trying super hard to crawl-and getting around pretty well despite the fact that he can't yet crawl, and giggling up a storm.

Rocky LOVES to laugh.  He loves having his brother say, "OOOga Booga!"  He loves when we kiss all over his neck, he loves when we blow on his belly.  He just loves people!  He seems to be really social.  He can be fussing away, and we get into a crowd where he can watch people and he is a happy little clam.  He loves sitting at the table with us during dinner now.  He will sit in the high chair and bang his toys around, or laugh with us, or just take in our conversation.  His smile just kills me.  My heart just about stops every time I see it.

I love my little gifts.  I love hearing them laugh and giggle together.  I love hearing Kevin playing with them.  I feel so full of love and joy...even the middle of the night wake ups can't change that!
