I am thankful for the following:
- I have just three days of work left! The timing of this baby is a huge gift-and yes, although we wanted a third baby and were trying, we are not people that get to "plan" when our babies come. The Lord chose to gift us with the timing of this baby and I will have the last three months before she arrives off of work. That is a huge gift.
- Baby girl loves to move! Although she does nap and has moments of stillness, it is mostly when I am busy with work and moving around a lot. Just about anytime I am resting she is moving! I love that. I love falling asleep to the feeling of her wiggles and kicks. She does wake me up sometimes, but I never mind. I know I will miss feeling those movements once she is born.
- I have a wonderful doctor! My regular doctor-whom I adore and used to deliver babies and was my doc for both of the boys-no longer delivers babies. This meant I had to transfer to a new doctor at 12 weeks. I originally thought I would go with a midwife, but due to my history and the complications we have had, my doc suggested a particular doctor and she has been amazing. She takes so much time with me at each appointment, she remembers everything we discussed at previous appointments, she is so kind...I am just so thankful. It was one of my biggest worries when I found out my doctor no longer did deliveries.
- Our doula from our birth with Rocky will be with us on this one as well! She is a friend of ours, and having her with us for Rocky's labour and deliver was so wonderful. She has actually moved and we didn't know if she would still be willing to work with us, but she said yes immediately and for that I am so thankful. If past history repeats itself, this birth will be a long, drawn out and painful process-both boys were over 24 hours, were back labour, and were slow at reaching dilation. Having Laura with us for Rocky's delivery allowed me to stay home much longer and just to keep a clearer head about my options. I can't wait to have her on board for Ruby's labour and delivery as well.
- Kev and I are heading to Maui for a ten year anniversary/babymoon trip in just 19 sleeps! Nana and Papa have graciously agreed to watch the boys for a week so we can getaway and thanks to saving up air miles for 10+ years and generosity in a location to stay from some of Kev's dad's friends, we are able to make this trip somewhat conservatively financially, which is such a huge gift. We can't wait for seven days of relaxation together, although I suspect by the end of the time I will be missing my boys something fierce! We haven't been to Maui in ten years and our focus for this trip is a bit different than our honeymoon was. On that trip we had a fun adventure just about every other day. This trip will be decidedly more low key and much more focused on tasty food! If you have any food recommendations on the island of Maui, pass them my way! Also let me know what your favourite luau was and why! We didn't totally love the one we attended the last time we were there and are looking at other options.
Some things that are still different:
- I'm still experiencing some issues with restless legs keeping my up. At my last prenatal appointment my doctor suggested a magnesium supplement, which I have just started a few days ago. I'm still having some problems but we will see if they lessen.
- Heartburn has amped up considerably with this little one. I am still eating mostly the same-and pretty healthy considering-but that heartburn is just about constant. My doc did give me a prescription but I am just so hesitant to take anything for it. :( I may have to though, as I often feel quite uncomfortable for it.
Here is the 25 week shot! Kev took it today, which was a great day! We enjoyed a family hike including geocaching and a picnic by the river, as well as a delicious dinner with some dear friends that we hadn't seen for months tonight! I am now officially 25 weeks and 5 days.
